The Discalced Carmelite family of the western United States is composed of friars, nuns, seculars (lay people), and various aggregated congregations and religious institutes. All of us seek to live a life of allegiance to Jesus Christ inspired by the Carmelite Rule of St. Albert according to the charism of St. Teresa of Jesus, popularly known as St. Teresa of Avila. In this charism, we find the source of our joy and strength by returning again and again to our inmost center, where we find Jesus Himself. Our lives are lives filled with good works, that spring from love and lead to joy. We would like to share them with you. Please join us as we celebrate the 500th anniversary of St. Teresa's birth! We do ask that you bring a birthday present for St. Teresa -- the gift of yourself to Her King and Royal Majesty, and the gift of your joy to all those you meet at this celebration.
